Symantec, NTT Security team up on cyber

Symantec, NTT Security team up on cyberA strategic partnership between Symantec and NTT Security will see the two companies expand their respective web security service portfolios to better compete with rivals.

The agreement will integrate Symantec’s web security gateway and cloud access security broker (CASB) tools (and some elements of its Integrated Cyber Defense Platform) with NTT Security’s threat detection and advanced analytics platform.Symantec, NTT Security team up on cyber

Symantec already offers its own advanced threat detection (ATP) solution and it's not clear if it will sell both to either its own or NTT Security customers. In contrast, NTT Security’s product portfolio is decidedly narrow, with the subsidiary of Japanese telco NTT Com primarily focussing on consulting, systems integration and support services.

For the moment the two companies will look to provide tighter web and cloud application access from fixed and mobile devices, but future collaboration will share “telemetry” information and involve a greater level of endpoint protection.

As we have said previously, the scale and diversity of cyber threats currently arraigned against UK organisations looks too big and complex to be addressed by any one provider (subscribers to SecureConnectViews can read our Cyber Security Market Trends & Forecasts 2017-2020 report).

As such partnerships like this one are a good tactic for security product and service suppliers that want to stay relevant to their customers by amassing multiple tools under a single service wrap.
