Katy Ring

Katy Ring is a highly regarded industry analyst with many decades of experience in assessing the IT market. She is known for her analysis of emerging technology, having worked with the vendor and buyer community commentating and advising on the adoption of areas such as cloud services and IoT. 

Before working with TechMarketView, Katy was a research director at 451 Research, instigating and executing research in areas such as big data, advanced analytics, digital workplace transformation services, and digital engineering for IoT-enabled transformation projects. She successfully developed research exploring the opportunity for consultancies and system integrators in these areas, helping them develop strategies to provide services in emerging technology fields.

With a career that has also included roles as co-founder of K2 Advisory, Principal Analyst for The Bathwick Group, Research Leader for IT Outsourcing at Nelson Hall, and Practice Leader, Outsourcing at Ovum, Katy has plenty of experience in the tech sector. Prior to becoming an analyst, Katy was a technology journalist. She was the Founding Editor of Software Futures, and Deputy Editor of Computergram International.  These different roles have provided Katy with a wealth of knowledge on vendor, partner, and enterprise client requirements. She continues to work as a freelance technology researcher and writer. 

Katy has a PhD in the popularisation of science.
