The London data centre market: Shaped by cloud and corporate activity

The London carrier neutral data centre market is the largest in Europe, almost equaling the capacity available in the whole of Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris combined. 2016 was a record year for London and indeed all European markets, with overall demand running at twice the previous year. The key driver behind this resurgence has been demand from the hyperscale cloud service providers, namely Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google and IBM Softlayer.

In this research note we look at some of the key market trends and industry players, and assess how things are likely to evolve in 2017 and beyond.
