*NEW RESEARCH* Digital Marketplace Dashboards P02 2020-21

Dashboard imageTechMarketView’s monthly Digital Marketplace dashboards reveal £187.3m was spent through the G-Cloud and Digital Outcomes & Specialists (DOS) frameworks during the second period of the new government fiscal year 2020-21 (May 2020). This represents a fall of 19.5% compared to P1 and is flat compared to P2 2019-20.

Total G-Cloud spend for P1 2020-21 was £119.7m. This was down 22.5% on the previous month, but up 3.7% year-on-year. DOS spending, which totalled £67.6m, also fell during the month—it was down 13.6% compared to P1 and down 7.1% year-on-year.

AWS was the leading supplier on G-Cloud during the month with sales of £7.8m. In total, 36 public sector organisations recorded spend with the cloud service provider in P1, with HMRC, DVSA and DWP spending in excess of £1m. With less the half the spend of AWS, Methods was in second place led by its work with MoJ, and Capgemini was in 3rd place, largely due to its work with the Home Office.

Kainos comtinued to lead the way on the DOS framework through its work with Defra, HMCTS and HM Land Registry. Deloitte was in second place due to contracts with Home Office and DVSA, and Mastek came in 3rd through work with NHS Digital.

Although there was a significant dip in Digital Marketplace spend in P2, it follows a strong P1 and for the 2020-21 year to date, spend is up 14% compared to the same period in 2019-20. Data for June should provide us with greater insight into the impact COVID-19 disruption has had on Digital Marketplace spend.
