Well, it looks like London-based Feast It has completed the pivot from ‘gourmet street food’ marketplace (I use the term ‘gourmet’ advisedly) to ‘full-fat’ event supply chain marketplace.
Launched in 2017 (see Feast It hits the street with seed funding), Feast It expanded its remit towards becoming a platform to book independent traders and restaurant brands to cater for events from parties to festivals (see Feast It feasts on further funding).
Feast It has since expanded to become a directory of suppliers for all aspects of event organisation (physical and virtual) and has just raised £1.7m from MAHR Projects and various individual backers. This follows a £2m raise last November.
Like many marketplaces, Feast It puts its trust in the suppliers on its platform to ‘do the right thing’. Event organisers submit their requirements to Feast It and receive ‘personalised quotes’ from suppliers. Organisers can then chat directly with the suppliers via the Feast It platform and make the booking. There is the risk, of course, that some suppliers would be tempted to complete the transaction ‘offline’ but that’s a risk that comes with the territory, so to speak.
Feast It joins the burgeoning crowd of start-ups serving the (virtual) event industry. So, while the likes of ‘double-unicorn’ Hopin can organise and manage the event for you, Feast It is hoping to be the one to bring the beer and nibbles – and a whole lot else.
PS Maybe time to change the brand name? “Event It” maybe?
