Civica enhances HCM proposition with Point Progress

Civica logoPublic sector software specialist Civica has acquired expenses management software provider Point Progress. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Nantwich-based Point Progress was founded in 2000. The company provides a range of software solutions for expense management, invoice automation, driver and vehicle management, absence and leave management, and timesheets. Its cloud-based expenses management platform, MyExpenses, includes a CarbonCalc feature and it is this functionality that appears to have been a key factor in Civica acquiring the business.

CarbonCalc analyses the carbon footprint of an individual expenses claim, allowing the company to understand the environmental impact of business travel and encouring employees to make greener transport choices. It is already being employed by a range of UK public sector organisations, including the Scottish Parliament and Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

The bolt-on acquisition follows Civica’s long-standing M&A strategy of adding complementary cloud-based software and expertise that extends its customer base and product suite. The addition of Point Progress will enhance Civica’s Human Capital Management (HCM) proposition and allow the company to better support the Net Zero and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) ambitions of its customers.

The deal follows the acquisition of clinical e-scheduling specialists Malinko Health & Care Technologies in February 2021 and Canadian healthcare technology business Momentum Healthware last month.
