The rapid onset of BYOT (bring your own technology) is having an impact on more and more end user environments. So CIOs are looking for help from service providers to manage the rapidly-evolving challenges that BYOT is presenting. In such a fast-moving area, it’s vital that service providers take their own medicine and use internal systems and processes as a test-bed for BYOT-related services and skills that can be taken to market. To investigate an example of this in practice, we recently met with a number of senior executives at Accenture to talk about the company’s internal use of BYOT, as well as its BYOT services and activities for clients. This note presents a summary of what we found out and some conclusions around what these findings tell us about the role of IT service providers in the face of BYOT.
