Here’s a useful tip if ever you are applying for a job through a video interview – make sure your device is well charged or plugged in (you too, I would add!).
This, and eight other useful tips for candidates appears on the website of Sunderland-based video interview platform start-up Shine Interview, which has just raised a further £1.3m in a funding round from the North East Venture Fund (NEVF, managed by Mercia), the Finance Durham Fund (managed by Maven) and Mercia’s EIS funds. NEVF backed an earlier funding round in 2019 (see Shine recruits backers for video interviewing).
Shine was founded in 2016 by former software engineer-turned-entrepreneur, David Copple (CEO), who apparently still keeps his hand in the software development market through his consulting business, Cornerways Consulting. Shine is chaired by NED Joe Slavin, who has form in the recruitment market including as CEO of Fish4Jobs (not to be confused with Jobs4Fish, which helps marine life find useful employment).
But here’s the thing. There’s a slew of video recruitment start-ups in the market, many of whom I have written about, including most recently London-based gigl (see Video interviewer gigl recruits backers) and going back to LaunchPad in 2016 (see LaunchPad recruits new investors).
As ever, you pays your money (in Shine’s case, from £150 p.m.) and you takes your choice.
Now, plug yourself in, charge yourself up … and SMILE!
