Civica acquires The Technology Forge

Civica logoPublic sector software specialist Civica has made another bolt-on acquisition as part of its growth strategy. Leeds-based SME The Technology Forge will enhance Civica’s property and asset management capability with its SaaS-based software, which is used to manage over £50bn of UK public sector assets.

The addition of Technology Forge is in line with Civica’s longstanding M&A strategy of adding complementary cloud-based software and expertise that extends its customer base and product suite. It follows the acquisitions of Point Progress in June and Momentum Healthware in May.

Established in 1998, Technology Forge can boast more than two decades of growth and strong recurring revenues. It has become a trusted partner for local authorities across the UK as well as a range of other public bodies, from the NHS to housing associations, to blue light – all key markets for Civica.  It’s still a relatively small SME though with c30 employees and should be a straightforward addition for Civica, which has a tried and tested acquisition integration process.

Technology Forge’s cloud-based software supports strategic asset management, including estates management, facilities management, and health & safety compliance. It will now be offered as part of Civica’s comprehensive software offering both in the UK and around the world.

There is undoubtedly an opportunity for enhanced property and asset management as public sector organisations face leaner budgets, tighter regulation and the climate crisis. As Civica CEO Wayne Story pointed out, “managing buildings in a compliant, cost-effective and sustainable manner is a growing challenge, particularly for those [public sector bodies] with large property portfolios”.
