Richard Holway MBE is widely regarded as one of the UK's leading ICT analysts. His career in computing began in 1966 as a programmer, before joining Hoskyns (now Capgemini) in 1968. He founded and sold Systemsolve in the early 1970s, later rejoining Hoskyns and progressing to the board in 1979 as Group Marketing Director. In 1984, he was appointed Managing Director of Wootton Jeffreys plc before establishing Richard Holway Limited in 1986.

Under Richard's leadership, Richard Holway Limited became the definitive authority on the UK software and IT services market. He launched the annual Holway Report in 1988, the monthly SYSTEMhouse newsletter in 1989, and the Hotnews internet service in 1996—one of the first technology blogs, which evolved into TechMarketView's HotViews. In 2000, Ovum acquired Richard Holway Limited, with Richard joining the Ovum board until Datamonitor's acquisition in 2006.

Richard co-founded TechMarketView LLP with Anthony Miller in 2008 and served as Chairman for 15 years until his retirement in 2023. He is currently a Partner at ScaleUp Group, where he invests to help UK tech companies grow. Outside his analytical work, Richard has been deeply involved with charitable causes, serving as a founding member and later Chairman of the King’s Trust Technology Leadership Group, which has raised over £50m. His contributions to young people were recognised with an MBE in the 2012 Queen's Birthday Honours.
