London-based business expense and travel management start-up Sweep has been building out functionality since it received a £456k grant from Innovate UK last September (see Innovate UK grants Sweep funds to brush up its app), but there’s still a long journey ahead.
While the ‘Sweep Expenses’ app is live, at £5 per user per month, ‘Sweep Travel’ – the booking module – is ‘coming soon’. Originally, Sweep was offering free access to Sweep Expenses if you signed up for the travel booking bit at £10 p.u.p.m., but that offer has disappeared from its website.
Founded in 2017 and launched the following year, Sweep has since raised a further £125k on crowdfunding site Seedrs, matched by the British Business Bank’s Future Fund.
There are just so many expense management apps in the market it’s really hard to see how Sweep is going to clean up (so to speak), even when the product is finished. But you have to admire founder Billel Ridelle’s determination and persistence in giving it a whirl.
PS I’m still struggling to come up with a ‘Sooty’ pun. Must be losing my touch!
