IT services and digital transformation company Version 1 has announced it has appointed Roop Singh as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Singh, who joined the Dublin-headquartered firm as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at the start of the year (see Roop Singh joins Version 1 as CCO), will take up his new position immediately.
Singh brings extensive leadership experience to the role. Prior to joining Version 1, he was Chief Business Officer and CEO Americas at Indian multinational IT services business, Birlasoft, where he played a pivotal role in driving the company's impressive growth trajectory. Before joining Birlasoft in 2019, Singh held several senior management positions including Vice President and Business Head of IBM's Banking and Financial Services practice in the USA, and Senior Vice President and Global Head of the Securities and Capital Markets at Wipro.
Since joining Version 1, Singh has used this experience to lead key strategic initiatives intended to prepare the company for its next phase of growth. As we commented when Singh originally joined the company, his background across data and analytics, digital and cloud, and ERP, and his knowledge of key market verticals (e.g., financial services) and the North American market will be vital in helping Version 1 achieve its ambitious expansion plans.
Singh takes over from Brian Humphries, who became executive chairman after Tom O’Connor stepped down as CEO at the end of 2024. Following Singh’s move to CEO, Humphries has returned to his original position as Chairman of the Board.
Singh takes the reins of a company in a good state. It is expanding rapidly in the UK (see UK-Ireland Summit unlocks tech investment) and has secured several strategic contracts in recent months, including those with the Scottish Government (see Version 1 lands major Scottish Government digital deal), and the Department of Education in Ireland (see Version 1 secures €102.7m Irish education contract).
