Business Process Outsourcer Serco has secured three significant maritime service contracts with the UK Ministry of Defence, collectively valued at over £1bn, helping cement its position as a key partner to the Royal Navy after nearly three decades of collaboration.
The largest award, worth approx. £850m over ten years, covers in-port services across the UK's three main naval bases and includes the procurement of 24 new vessels to help modernise the Royal Navy's support fleet. Two additional contracts—a £70m five-year agreement for inshore training support and a £110m ten-year offshore support contract—round off the package.
This triple win represents an expansion of Serco's defence portfolio, coming on the heels of other significant global defence contracts including the £1bn UK Armed Forces Recruitment Service, a $320m US Space Force contract, and a $247m US Army health and fitness support agreement.
The contracts demonstrate both the resilience of defence spending despite economic pressures and the continued trend toward outsourcing operational naval support functions to specialised service providers. For Serco, these awards provide long-term revenue visibility while strengthening its naval services credentials internationally.
