TechMarketView - THE most influential analyst firm in UK IT?

TMV LogoEarlier this morning, in Paywalls Revisited, I was discussing the importance of ‘influence’ for both analysts and journalists alike. I then flicked through my (ironically paper) copy of Computer Weekly to discover I've been voted as one of the ‘Most influential people in UK IT”  in Computer Weekly’s IBM UKTech50.  Indeed I am the ONLY analyst or commentator – everyone else is a CIO or CEO. List headed by Philip Clarke – CIO @ Tesco and includes the likes of Tim Berners Lee, Jonathan Ive, Mike Lynch, Herman Hauser, John Suffolk, Martha Lane Fox etc. So I’m in quite good company!

This is a complete surprise and thanks to whoever might have put me on that list.

In time honoured fashion, I actually think the award was for TechMarketView as a whole. Clearly and indisputably now THE most influential analyst firm in UK IT!

Footnote - Just as an illustration of TechMarketView's 'influence', we were in the Financial Times twice today/Thursday. Firstly, Anthony Miller's comments on  Staff turnover at Logica on the rise and then  River Lea shapes up as Silicon Valley. The latter comments on the speech David Cameron is giving today on the establishment of a tech, media and internet centre in East London around the Olympic Park. We covered this last week - see Jeremy Hunt and the importance of Clusters. We will undoubtedly return to the subject - not least 'cos we think it's a great initiative.
