Oracle signs enhanced UK Government MoU

Oracle logoThe UK Government Crown Commercial Service has negotiated a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with Oracle. It replaced the previous MoU, which expired on 30th April this year and is applicable to all of Oracle’s cloud-based offerings from infrastructure to software to support & maintenance to cloud migrations. As with similar MoUs in place between CCS and ICT suppliers it is designed to offer value for money for public sector customers looking to modernise their Oracle estates by giving access to discounts and other commercial benefits. Some new benefits have been brought into scope including Market Driven Support Transition Services, offering customers the ability to migrate aging systems to Oracle Cloud infrastructure, reducing risk and minimal downtime.

As we highlighted in UK Government Shared Services: The Opportunity, there is change on the horizon for the UK Government Shared Services programme and Oracle is in a strong position to benefit. In the last few months, we have seen the successful adoption of the Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite by the Home Office under its METIS programme, providing a strong reference as the five newly defined Shared Services Centres decide on the next steps in their back-office transformation journey.  This latest MoU announcement follows hot on the heels of a new MoU with cloud ERP competitor Workday, which has also spotted an opportunity to make its mark within the Government Shared Services Strategy (Workday signs UK Government MoU).
