Infor targets UK public sector with cloud Public Sector solution

Infor logoInfor has the UK public sector firmly within its sights, with the launch of its Infor Public Sector solution into the UK. A multi-tenant cloud offering running on AWS, it ticks important procurement boxes including compliance with data residency regulations because it can be deployed via AWS in London.

The solution combines Infor CloudSuite Public Sector, Financials, Supply Chain Management, and Infor People Solutions with the public sector enterprise asset management capabilities of Infor Hansen and is broadly targeted at local and central government, and non-departmental government arms-length bodies. The UK public sector is not a new market for Infor  - it has c.20 years’ experience with organisations such as South West Water, Borders College, London Fire Brigade and Viewpoint Housing - but the launch indicates an intensifying of its efforts. In addition to the baselines of functionality, availability, up to date and security aspects of the cloud based solution, Infor is also aiming to capitlaise on lessons learned during the pandemic about the value of cloud based solutions while also highlighting the role of multi tenancy in enabling shared services.

The UK Government’s Crown Commercial Service has Memorandums of Understanding with Google Cloud, AWS and Microsoft Azure to ease adoption. There have also been some substantial cloud contracts signed with application providers, including Workday who won an £11.5m contractFinancialForce who secured a contract to provide its ERP offering to the FCA, Unit4 adding cloud customers within police and local authorities, while the London Borough of Hackney moved its financials system into a private cloud under an existing deal with Advanced. Opportunities are out there for Infor as the public sector increasingly looks beyond Oracle and SAP but it’s a competitive space.
