TechMarketView update

TMV LogoIt’s been a busy couple of weeks at TechMarketView, culminating in our managing partner, Anthony Miller’s presentation, Waiting for the Cloudburst, at the Regent Conference on Thursday (follow the link for a PDF version of his slides and for more highlights from the event read Richard’s thoughts in Some ‘takeaways’ from the Regent Conference ).

The end of January saw the launch of our BusinessProcessViews research stream, under the stewardship of Research Director John O’Brien. John’s inaugural report on the subject, UK Business Process Services – Spotting the opportunities, examines the key trends affecting the business process services market and identifies areas of growth in 2011 and beyond. It’s essential reading for anyone with an interest in the UK SITS scene, not just business process outsourcers.

TechMarketView’s public sector team have also been busy. Georgina O'Toole’s latest research note takes a closer look at privately-held, public sector-focused IT services and BPO player Agilisys (see Agilisys: successfully taking on the big boys). Whilst Tola Sargeant examined the prospects for the Cloud in the UK education market, concluding that changes in the education sector look set to drive schools, colleges and universities towards the early adoption of cloud computing (see ‘Ed-Cloud’ before G-Cloud?). Tola and Georgina have also been debating the pros and cons of DWP CIO Joe Harley taking on the role of UK Government CIO in addition to his day job at the DWP – they’ve been widely quoted in the press on the topic too (see for example Computing and ComputerWorld).

Indeed, press coverage for TechMarketView has been wide and varied over the last few weeks. Richard has been quoted in Investors’ Chronicle (see Cloud has a silver lining for software) and The Australian (see Absence looms at Apple’s core) amongst others. Anthony’s comments on Computacenter’s results were widely reported (including in the FT); as were his views on TCS’s UK headcount (see ComputerWeekly) and his presentation to the Regent Conference (see ComputerWorld).
