*NEW RESEARCH* Police Suppliers, Trends, and Forecasts 2023-2026

Police Report CoverTechMarketView’s latest UK Police Software and IT Services (SITS) Suppliers, Trends, and Forecasts report is now available. It is the fifth of six subsector reports, after Central Government, Defence, Health and Education and it follows our UK Public Sector SITS Suppliers Trends, and Forecasts report that was published in August. Our final subsector report in this series, which covers the Local & Regional Government market, will be published shortly.

This report provides TechMarketView’s view of the UK Police SITS market from a market and supplier perspective. It provides our analysis of the performance of the market in 2022, another year of subdued growth, partly due to the Police Uplift Programme (the UK government’s plans to recruit an additional 20,000 police officers by March 2023) continuing to absorb time and resources. We also look at the years ahead (2023-2026) as policing tries to balance its challenging financial situation, a drive to improve productivity, responding to the changing nature of crime, and providing a better service to victims.

The report also contains an update to our UK Police SITS Top 10 supplier rankings (including a new supplier in the top spot), with our analysis of what is driving each player’s performance, as well as an insight into those suppliers that are threatening to unseat the leading players, and our pick of the ‘ones to watch’.

PublicSectorViews subscribers can find out the size of the UK Police SITS market, its future growth, and who the leading suppliers are by downloading Police Software and IT Services Suppliers, Trends and Forecasts 2023-26 today. If you are not yet a subscriber, or are unsure if your organisation has a corporate subscription, please contact Deb Seth to find out more.

*NEW RESEARCH* Immersive Customer Experiences: Progress, Possibilities and Prognosis

TechMarketView’s Immersive Customer Experiences: Progress, Possibilities and Prognosis report is now live for our subscribers.

Two years ago, expectations regarding the transformative impact of immersive technologies on Customer Experience had reached a fevered pitch. Announcements of intended investments by service providers in the arena totalled billions of dollars and immersive start-ups were attractingCover stratospheric valuations.

As the realities of cost, technical limitations, and integration challenges bit quickly, however, peak immersive hype was soon reached. Despite the subsequent cooling of Extended Reality market ardour, there remains a strong case to suggest that the future of CX is immersive.

This new research contains our analysis of the progress that the leverage of immersive technologies has made in the CX arena together with examples of the uses to which they are being put. The commentary also considers “where next?” for immersive CX and looks at the emerging technologies that are likely to impact developments in this arena in the years ahead.

If you are a subscriber to TechSectorViews, download the Immersive Customer Experiences: Progress, Possibilities and Prognosis report today. If you don’t have a subscription and would like to gain access the report and our other research and services please contact Deb Seth.

*NEW RESEARCH* Sustainability Predictions 2024

Sustainability Predictions 2024In a landmark agreement, delegates at the UN climate conference COP28 in December 2023 declared that the world should “transition away” from using fossil fuels for energy—calling for measures such as the tripling of renewables capacity and doubling of energy efficiency measures by 2030.

The agreement has focused attention on a number of use case areas of interest, and contributed to a shifting locus of control around environmental matters (encouraging organisations to take more responsibility for the—positive—environmental impact they’re able to achieve by changing behaviours).

As COP28’s renewable energy capacity and energy efficiency targets range out to 2030, with a checkpoint at COP30 in 2025, there are many scenarios which could run their course and affect software and IT services suppliers over the longer term. However, in this Sustainability Predictions 2024 report, we focus on six areas that TechMarketView considers to be the most pressing, and the most likely to affect the UK market in 2024. If you do not currently have access to TechMarketView’s sustainability research, or would like to learn more about this report please contact Deb Seth for more information.

*NEW RESEARCH* The legal landscape for ESG

The Legal Landscape for ESGWe’ve seen numerous pieces of new, environmental sustainability-related legislation make it onto the statute books across various territories of late (and existing ones tighten their rules and widen their scope)—some triggered by recent COP (UN climate conference) agreements; some bound to be affected (in scope and speed) by COP28’s commitment to “transition away” from fossil fuels.

This is all contributing to a rather anxious atmosphere amongst organisations newly caught in the reporting net (or soon to be so), something of a funding frenzy in startup circles, and an arms race amongst more established players as more and more tools and platforms join the fray—each looking to offer their own niche take on how to solve the problem… or at least a part of it.

A new Emerging Market Briefing report under our Sustainability stream of research: The Legal Landscape for ESG - Carrots and Sticks at the Heart of Sustainability Policy looks at the various policy and legal frameworks, and emerging standards, in the field of environmental social governance (ESG) reporting—in the UK, across Europe, and in the US.

We analyse the implications for organisations of all shapes, sizes, and sectors (when they’re likely to be impacted, and how; and where their SITS technology partners can help customers turn a bane into a boon by capitalising on the data they collect). If you do not currently have access to TechMarketView’s sustainability research, or would like to learn more about this report please contact Deb Seth for more information.

*NEW RESEARCH* COP28’s Call to Arms for the Tech Industry

The 28th UN Climate Change Conference (more commonly known as COP28) finallCOP28's Call to Arms for the Tech Industryy concluded its business on 13th December 2023, with consensus reached on text detailing climate measures that all 198 participating countries could sign up to.

Most of the media scrabble in the dying days of negotiations focusing on the “will they / won’t they” tussle surrounding the proposed inclusion (or otherwise) of a reference to phasing out fossil fuels. In the end, the declaration called on countries to “transition away” from their reliance on fossil fuels (at least “in energy systems”, with a question mark over continued use in heavy industries).

So, what does this wording (and the “global stocktake” of all the measures in train since the landmark Paris Agreement in 2015) mean for the UK’s software and IT services suppliers (and their customers)?

A new Emerging Market Briefing report under our Sustainability stream of research: COP28’s Call to Arms for the Tech Industry – Implications and Opportunities for UK SITS Suppliers and their Customers explores where technology can play a part in helping countries meet their renewed environmental obligations (specifically around data – collection, disclosure, and action, biodiversity and habitat protection in support of carbon removal, enabling renewables, greening IT, and making buildings smarter). If you do not currently have access to TechMarketView’s sustainability research, or would like to learn more about this report please contact Deb Seth for more information.

*UKHotViewsExtra* Disposal complete: The future for Parity and Partway

Parity, Pertemps and Partway logosAt the end of November, we reported on Parity selling its recruitment business for £3m – see Parity to sell IT recruitment business for £3m | TechMarketView. Last Friday (8th December), Parity completed the disposal of Parity Professionals, receiving the initial £2m consideration from the buyer – recruiter, Pertemps Network Group (PNG Network Ventures) - and changed its name, effective 11th December 2023, to Partway Group. Following completion of the sale, Partway Group has been reclassified as a cash shell on the AIM market.

For Chairman of Parity Group, and now Chairman of Partway Group, Mark Braund, this moment is bittersweet. While he feels happy for shareholders, for customers, for employees, and for the recruitment firm’s contractor base, he also feels disappointment.

UKHotViews Premium logoTechMarketView subscribers - including UKHotViews Premium subscribers - can read our views on the disposal and what the future holds for Parity within its new home, as well as for Partway Group, in our latest research, Disposal Complete: The future for Parity and Partway.

TechMarketView Predictions 2024

TechMarketView has just launched its Predictions for 2024.

As 2023 draws to a close, we reflect on what has been a much tougher year for suppliers to the UK Software and IT Services (SITS) market. For those that have seen TechMarketView’s latest analysis, you’ll know that our view is that the market is unlikely to expand in real terms this year.

This toughened environment, combined with other challenging factors such as increasing cyber threats, growing competitive pressure, and rising employee and customer expectations, is forcing many predorganisations to rethink tech investments.

In 2024, buyers will put much greater focus on ensuring they are ready to adopt and leverage – at pace – the value of emerging technologies. Artificial Intelligence will of course be key, but the net will be thrown much wider and we'll also see organisations consider how the roll-out of more traditional technology and existing processes can be elevated by infusing emerging tech. Read more about 2024’s research theme from our Chief Analyst, Georgina O'Toole, here: Enabling Acceleration. For suppliers, a key focus in the year ahead must be instilling confidence in clients and prospects to progress quickly and adopt unfamiliar technologies, while at the same time proving that the extensive foundational work still required by many can deliver value and efficiency in the short-term.

With all of this in mind, the following TechMarketView Predictions for 2024 are set in the context of a rapidly evolving technology landscape and consider how organisations will leverage that technology to unleash pacy organisational change.

  • AI Copilots will come of age
  • AI will define a new era for Cybersecurity
  • From migration to continuous modernisation
  • New innovations unlocked as industry platform adoption accelerates
  • Customer experience gets predictive
  • Organisations and their key business processes become more transparent
  • Automation gets automated
  • Accelerated adoption of AI & automation triggers a skills rethink
  • Carbon accounting becomes subsumed into financial accounting
  • Software as a Business gathers momentum.

*New Research* Atos Tech Foundations: Clarity and focus

Atos Tech Foundations - Clarity and focus - Report coverSince June 2022, when Atos announced its proposed split (Atos proposes business split: What does it mean?), into Atos (currently being referred to as Tech Foundations) and Eviden, the Tech Foundations side of the business, in particular, has been experiencing something of a rollercoaster.

Corporate announcement after corporate announcement, from changes to the Atos Group governance (New Atos CEO from today: Yves Bernaert | TechMarketView), to the proposed sale of the Tech Foundations business to Czech billionaire, Daniel Kretinsky’s investment vehicle, EPEI (to become a privately owned company – see EPEI to acquire Atos Tech Foundations | TechMarketView), to the appearance of a new anchor investor in the shape of onepoint (Perseverance from Onepoint in Atos Eviden pursuit), have all whipped up media frenzies, resulted in a rocky time for the share price, and heavily distracted from the reshaping and refocusing of the Tech Foundations business.

We now expect the split to be concluded during H1 2024 when the EPEI transaction is predicted to close. We still wait for news of how the EPEI transaction is going to be “modified and simplified”. However, with what feels like a little more stability around the future steady state, Atos’ Tech Foundations business has now upped the ante on its communications related to its portfolio and investment priorities.

In our latest CompanyViews research note - Atos Tech Foundations: Picture of clarity and investment focus emerging – we highlight the renewed clarity that is emerging in relation to the Tech Foundations portfolio of offerings and look closely at the targeted investment that is being made in pursuit of operational efficiencies and market differentiation.

TechMarketView subscribers can download the report today. If you are not yet a subscriber – or are unsure if your organisation has a corporate subscription – please contact Deb Seth to find out how to access this and a whole raft of valuable, in-depth, research and analysis on the UK tech market and its suppliers.

Launching TechMarketView's 2024 Research Theme: Enabling Acceleration

Enabling Acceleration Launch Report - Cover ImageWe are excited to launch TechMarketView’s research theme for 2024: Enabling Acceleration (full report here).

Committed followers of TechMarketView will be aware that every year our theme is designed to sum up in a few words the key trends that we think will impact the tech market in the year ahead. Our 2024 research theme – Enabling Acceleration – highlights the intense pressure that organisations feel to keep pace with the speed of technological innovation and make a transformation step change.

That pressure has been magnified with the introduction of Generative AI and its dominance of tech-focused conversations, media publications, and events. How often do we now hear the phrase, “a presentation would not be complete without the mention of GenAI”?

GenAI has, arguably, been a fresh catalyst that has resulted in CXOs of all organisations considering how new technologies are set to impact their businesses. They are worrying about everything from keeping pace with the competition, to keeping pace with cyber threats, to keeping pace with employee expectations.

As a result, we are seeing organisations reassess their existing data and AI investment and seek to scale pilots and proof of concepts faster to realise benefit more widely. We believe the twelve months of 2024 will see companies shift time and resource into making sure they are ready to adopt and leverage – at pace – the value of emerging (as well as more traditional) technologies, including but not limited to AI.

For a more in-depth delve into our 2024 Research Theme, TechMarketView subscribers can download the research report - Launching TechMarketView’s 2024 Research Theme: Enabling Acceleration - now. If you are not yet a subscriber and would like to understand more about our research theme, including the key actions that we believe suppliers and end users should be taking in the year ahead, please contact Deb Seth to find out how to access.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to dominate the market narrative, influencing digital transformation investment across all industries and market segments.
