*NEW RESEARCH* Digital Marketplace Dashboards P01 2020-21

Dashboard imagesTechMarketView’s monthly Digital Marketplace dashboards reveal £228.9m was spent through the G-Cloud and Digital Outcomes & Specialists (DOS) frameworks during the first month of the new government fiscal year 2020-21 (April 2020).

Total G-Cloud spend for P1 2020-21 was £151.7m. This was down 22% on the previous month, but that was to be expected following the typical spike in spending in the final period of each financial year. Compared to the same period last year, G-Cloud spending was up by 21%.

DOS spending followed a similar trend. It was down 13% compared to the P12 2019-20, but up an impressive 41% compared to the same period last year. In total £77.1m was spent via DOS during the period.

DXC (Entserv) was the leading supplier on G-Cloud during the month, largely due to a £6.3m transaction with the Disclosure & Barring Service. More surprisingly, Palantir Technologies was in second place due to deals with the Submarine Delivery Agency and Navy Command Headquaters in Portsmouth. These represent the biggest digital marketplace deals it has secured to date—the only other activity of any size was £1.4m with Cabinet Office in 2016. AWS came in third, largely as a result of its HMRC and DWP contracts.

Kainos was the leading DOS supplier for the period, starting 2020-21 where it left off in 2019-20. Its biggest customers during the period were Defra and HM Land Registry. Deloitte was close behind, led my deals with Home Office, MOD and DVSA. In third place was BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, almost all through its deal with the Home Office.
