*NEW RESEARCH* SAP and Sibros take top spots in sustainability tech

OUT NOW from TechMarketView is the Sustainability Technology Activity Index Q1 2024 – Global Supplier Insights excerpt.

STAI Q1 2024 - Global Supplier Insights coverToday, TechMarketView launches the first instalment of the Sustainability Technology Activity Index for 2024 with a sneak peek at Q1’s supplier data (we’ll publish a series of reports on the full 2024 calendar year – which will include a deep dive into the UK market, as well as global trends – early in 2025).

The Index tracks “milestone events” that indicate a state change in the development and production of sustainability-related solutions (activities may include the launch of a new service or pilot project; the announcement of a new partnership – heralding a combined offering of some sort; the transition of a pilot into production; the scaling-up an existing service; or the addition of significant new public reference customers). We rank the most active suppliers (with their use case activity profile), the most common use cases (and the most active suppliers and commonly-used technologies in those areas), and the most commonly-used technologies (and the use case areas they’re deployed in) – highlighting key trends facing suppliers and tech user organisations alike, and also showing how the UK market differs from the global view.

We’re releasing the individual sections of the Index report as excerpts ahead of UN Climate Week at the end of the month – beginning with today’s Global Supplier Insights, which looks at who the top players were globally (and which use case areas they focused on), together with detailed analysis of the current landscape and insights that will help suppliers finesse their approaches to partnerships and M&A.

SAP and software-defined vehicle specialist Sibros came out on top in Q1, in terms of their level of sustainability activity worldwide. Our research also shows that, behind the major tech suppliers, there’s a very long tail of smaller companies involved in just one or two activities, indicating a fragmented market of niche (and less active) players. Other key points emerging from the data suggest that suppliers should move beyond bolt-on solutions to develop unified platforms that embed sustainability across core operations, and also embrace “sustainability-by-design" to minimise the environmental impact of their offerings. Check out the report for more insights and recommendations for suppliers.

In the forthcoming Global Tech-User / Use Case Insights excerpt (released on Wednesday 11th September) we’ll focus on use cases, with analysis of the technology mix and supplier rankings in each; the Global Technology Insights excerpt (released Friday 13th ) will look at how different technologies are deployed across those use cases; The UK View (Monday 16th) examines how the UK market compares to the worldwide picture; and the final excerpt (Wednesday 18th) outlines ten Market Shaping Trends to watch.
