OUT NOW from TechMarketView is Sustainability Technology Activity Index Q1 2024.
In advance of UN Climate Week next week, TechMarketView today publishes the full Sustainability Technology Activity Index Q1 2024 report – a sneak peek at the data from the first three months of the year (we’ll publish a series of reports on the full 2024 calendar year, including a deep dive into the UK market as well as global trends, early in 2025).
Today’s release combines the each of the excerpts released over the last fortnight, with a new summary of key messages for suppliers and tech user organisations. If you’ve missed any of the previous instalments, catch up with the full, compendium edition here: Sustainability Technology Activity Index Q1 2024.
The Index tracks “milestone events” that indicate a state change in the development and production of sustainability-related solutions. Activities may include the launch of a new service or pilot project; the announcement of a new partnership (heralding a combined offering of some sort); the transition of a pilot into production; the scaling-up an existing service; or the addition of significant new public reference customers. We rank the most active suppliers (with their use case activity profile), the most common use cases (and the most active suppliers and commonly-used technologies in those areas), and the most commonly-used technologies (and the use case areas they’re deployed in) – highlighting key trends facing suppliers and tech user organisations alike, and also showing how the UK market differs from the global view.
SAP and software-defined vehicle specialist Sibros came out on top in Q1, in terms of their level of sustainability activity worldwide. Other key points emerging from the data suggest that sustainability is now being embedded into core operations, less-mature emerging tech is playing a vital role in more niche use cases, and local expertise is influencing supplier selection in the UK market.
If you work in the sustainability space (either as a provider or consumer of technology), this report is vital reading for you. It provides a detailed analysis of the current landscape—highlighting the most active suppliers, along with the prevalent technologies and use cases. Understanding which technologies are in demand, and which use cases are the hottest hotspots (and where), can help suppliers tailor their offerings to meet market needs (and help them finesse their market approach to partnerships and M&A). Tech user organisations will benefit significantly from the Index’s comprehensive overview of how emerging and enabling technologies are being used across a range of sustainability use cases. By examining the most commonly-used tech and the top suppliers in each use case, organisations can identify potential partners and solutions that align best with their sustainability goals. The recommendations in the report will also guide the adoption of best practices from other sectors.
